چکیده

This article describes a system for tracking the line of primary gaze (LoPG) of participants as they view a large projection screen. Using a magnetic head tracker and a tracking algorithm, we find the onscreen location at which a participant is pointing a head-mounted crosshair. The algorithm presented for tracking the LoPG uses a polynomial function to correct for distortion in magnetic tracker readings, a geometric model for computing LoPG from corrected tracker measurements, and a method for finding the intersection of the LoPG with the screen. Calibration techniques for the above methods are presented. The results of two experiments validating the algorithm and calibration methods are also reported. Experiments showed an improvement in accuracy of LoPG tracking provided by each of the two presented calibration steps, yielding errors in LoPG measurements of less than 2 degrees over a wide range of head positions. Source code for the described algorithms can be downloaded from the Psychonomic Society Web archive, http://www.psychonomic.org/archive/.

Pareto design of fuzzy tracking control based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm for a walking robot in the lateral plane on slope

Many researchers have controlled and analyzed biped robots that walk in the sagittal plane. Nevertheless, walking robots require the capability to walk merely laterally, when they are faced with the obstacles such as a wall. In walking robot field, both nonlinearity of the dynamic equations and also having a tracking system cause an effective control has to be utilized to address these problems...

A Calibration-Free Gaze Tracking Technique

We propose a novel method to estimate and track the 3D line of sight of a person based on 3-D computer vision techniques. Most of the existing nonintrusive gaze tracking methods share a common drawback: users have to perform certain experiments in calibrating the user-dependent parameters before using the gaze tracking systems. These parameters are functions of the radius of the cornea, the pos...

VISCOUS NUTATION DAMPER, MODELING AND ANALYSIS

In some aerospace vehicles, the tracking sensors which act in a tracking loop as stabilizer are mounted on a two degree of freedom gyro. The gyro must align its rotor axis with the line of sight in order to remove tracking errors. The tracking precision and sensitivity are functions of the gyros performance. One of the main factors in reducing the precision and producing instabilities is nutati...

Evaluation of Attention Bias in Morphine and Methamphetamine Abusers towards Emotional Scenes during Early Abstinence: An Eye-Tracking Study

Introduction: We hypothesized that inappropriate attention during the period of abstinence in individuals with substance use disorder can result in an inadequate perception of emotion and unsuitable reaction to emotional scenes. The main aim of this research was to evaluate the attentional bias towards emotional images in former substance abusers and compare it to healthy adults. Methods:...

Estimation of Gaze Detection Accuracy Using the Calibration Information-Based Fuzzy System

Gaze tracking is a camera-vision based technology for identifying the location where a user is looking. In general, a calibration process is applied at the initial stage of most gaze tracking systems. This process is necessary to calibrate for the differences in the eyeballs and cornea size of the user, as well as the angle kappa, and to find the relationship between the user's eye and screen c...
